Browser shows artifacts on screen when watching Youtube video’s

Description of the issue:
Since a couple of weeks in Brave (and also other browsers) artifacts are shown when playing videos on Youtube. This is caused by the MESA driver for AMD GPU’s. Versions 26.1.6 and 26.1.8 are the ones causing this. There seems to be a newer version of this driver which should cure this issue, but it is not yet part of the latest flatpak version of Brave. Don’t know if Brave builds the flatpak or Flathub does this, but should you do it would you please include the latest MESA version available?

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Start Brave
  2. Open Youtube
  3. Watch video’s and see the artifacts

Expected result:
Clear image as it was before this happened

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.95.101 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Chromium: 153.0.8010.37

Additional Information:

The image below shows darker background parts which should not be there.
Thank you.

you would need to raise the issue on the browsers flathub manifest repository

Thank you for answering me.

Sorry to say this but can you also translate that into English? I have really no idea what you wrote. What is “browsers flathub manifest repository”?

For Brave it is here: GitHub - flathub/com.brave.Browser · GitHub

That is where the manifest is and where whoever maintains Brave is supposed to be

Since the app is verified, that would be the Brave devs
