Can I add a Python app I've developed with AI assistance to Flathub?

Hi. I’m the developer of PyTrain, an open source project to operate and control Lionel O-Gauge engines and accessories. I started development over 2 years ago, but over the last 6 months, I’ve begun to use ChatGPT and Claude to develop major new features, including a GUI for the Steam Deck. The GUI lets you use the hard buttons and joysticks to control multiple engines, along with the touchscreen interface I originally developed for the Raspberry Pi.

I used exclusively to adapt my Pi GUI to the Steam Deck, and to add support for its physical controls. Then, I used AI to build a packaging, release, and installation system that allows FlatPak distribution. I want to allow distribution via Flathub, but I read the Generative AI policy, and I want to make sure there is a good probability of success before I spend the time to build out Flathub support.

Who should I contact or talk with about this?

Thanks,

– Dave Swindell

My eyes are up here

How much AI we can tolerate varies slightly between reviewers, but overall we see it as a liability (no matter how much people swear they review) for the quality, stability, safety, and continued maintenance over a long period of time.

We want to have your app, with your code, in, not the silicon valleys. Inclusion can be considered if there is honest work to limit it in the workflow to the absolute minimum and rework the tainted partd. But as long as your development and codebase rely on it, then it’s not super bueno

I hear you. I’m disappointed, but thanks.
