Is it safe to use the RHEL setup on Rocky Linux?

Hi, as you may be aware, Rocky Linux is a fork of RHEL 8.

Rocky 8.4 (first production version) is meant as a (bit for bit I believe) replacement option for Centos 8.4, which was the open source version of RHEL 8.

A number of us are using Rocky as a desktop/workstation.

Flatpak is installed by default in Rocky.

Since Rocky is not an option listed on Flatpakâ the future of application distribution , I clicked on the setup link for RHEL. And this seems to work.

But is this safe? Is it ok to use the setup link for RHEL to setup flatpak in Rocky?

I ask this for 2 reasons:

  1. The RHEL setup icon on Flatpak—the future of application distribution does not specify it is RHEL 8, or 7, etc. So my Rocky 8.4 may not be compatible with eg RHEL if the setup is for eg RHEL 7.

  2. I assume Rocky 8.4 will run anything that is meant to run on Centos or RHEL 8.4, but I would rather not assume

Thanks ahead of time…

Yes, it’s safe.

The steps for adding the Flathub repository are identical.

Thanks for your help
