Upvoted! This project deserves to be taken seriously. The GitHub version gave me issues with some dependencies (404 error) and I’m unable to install from Terminal. The snap version sucks, and it doesn’t give the root permissions required to scan drives, which is a fundamental feature of this software.

I’m running it in VM (Windows 10) beside Cyber Triage anti malware suite (which is very interesting too) but a Linux native version could be better.

As far as I know Flatpak would also have trouble with that

Maybe it depends on how they compile things. Transmission flathub already have root access for example and is visibly recognizable due to the white default GUI. QPhotoRec (which is already inside my openSUSE repo and does the basic scan&recover that Autopsy does, based on the Sleuth kit) only needs a right click, application, advanced option, run as different user then add “root” and save according to KDE Plasma. The gap is minimum in my opinion, only a matter of time and will.
