Downloaded Minetest 5.8 but no menu, only black screen. Please advise, thanks.

Which distro, wayland or x11?

Which linux distribution are you running? Ubuntu? Mint?

I am using Linux Mint.

You might want to reach out to the authors. I think Mint can only run x11 right now, not sure if minetest needs wayland to run. Or if you could use xwayland to get around that - unsure how that works on mint.
