Updating my old post.
I installed Debian 12 as my daily driver with Dropbox Flatpak v209.4.3647 and the issue about the systray icon persistence is resolved.
I haven’t bothered with Ubuntu 24.04 given the number of issues continuing with that distro but, for now, Debian is king.
