FlatPak Installation on SD Card

Hello, as the title indicates: I am trying to transfer all my flatpak applications to my sd card and ensure that future installations also install there. I tried to do the custom installation method but it didn’t work in the second step because there are no files and even the command [Installation: “extra”] etc does not work. Please, I really need help.

PS: I’m on Steam Deck 64 GB

You probably don’t have sudoedit installed you can just try doing that with an editor, but with superuser rights or used sudo and nano together.

i am trying to do essentially the same thing on the same machine. reading man flatpak i came across flatpak create-usb

(deck@steamdeck)$ flatpak create-usb -u /run/media/deck/microsd/flatpak-usb
error: MOUNT-PATH and REF must be specified

but the man doesn’t specify what REF is. anyone know?

also, should i even be installing with -u if i’m on steam deck only ever as non-root user?

REF usually means an reference to an specific application, which would be the application id.

That being said:
flatpak create-usb is an tool to create an installation medium for an set of application. It can’t be used to create a separate installation on another drive.

You need to create a custom installation, see here:
